- Kit contents:
- 1 terracotta pot 6 cm in diameter.
- 2 Peanut seeds to plant
- 2 coconut soil tablets to rehydrate
- Growing Tips
- Prepare the fertilized soil: To ensure optimal germination, start by rehydrating the fertilized coconut soil pellets by immersing them in 5 to 6 times their volume of water. They will swell instantly. Mix them to obtain a homogeneous texture, then fill the pot using a spoon. Keep a small amount to cover the seeds after sowing.
- Sowing peanut seeds: Remove the seeds from their shells before sowing. Place two in the pot and reserve the others for later sowing or to plant directly outside when the weather is mild. Gently cover the seeds with fertilized coconut soil and press down lightly.
- Watering : preferably use rainwater or filtered water without chlorine. Water with a fine spray, ideally with a hand sprayer, to keep the soil moist without excess. Think of the humidity of the soil as that of a wrung
- out sponge. Be careful not to let the coco soil dry out.
- Promote germination : Place the pot in the light behind glass, but away from direct heat sources, such as a radiator. This exposure promotes rapid and abundant germination, generally visible within a few days, followed by rapid growth of the seedlings.
- Transplanting the seedlings : When the seedlings reach a height of 5 cm, select the most vigorous plant and transplant the others into new pots, planters or directly into the ground if the temperatures are high enough. Space the plants 30 cm apart and handle them carefully so as not to damage their stems or roots. Water immediately after transplanting to facilitate recovery.
- Harvesting peanuts : Peanuts, which grow underground like potatoes, are harvested between August and mid
- September. Once the plant is mature, carefully dig it up to extract the peanuts. Remove excess soil and let them dry in the sun before eating or storing.
